The festival itself is actually held in Rockland (about 15 minutes away) and features the crowning of a local girl as sea goddess, live music, rides that are only frightening because they were probably built in 1960 and haven't been maintained since, cheesy carnival games, crafts tents, and lots and lots of lobster (and other festival-style fried foods).
When I was little, I loved coming to Camden to watch the Lobster Festival parade, go on the rides, and get a helium balloon. Preferably a purple one with stars. Yesterday, my mom took Dan and me to the festival. It was not as grand as I remember it being (my mom says it wasn't as big this year), but it was still fun to poke around and devour some delicious steamed lobster.

Crowds and fried food
Well there you have it. The Lobster Festival in a nutshell. We definitely enjoyed the food sampling, the arts and crafts, and the people watching!
You are having the best summer in the history of summers....I mean, right???
